International Women’s Day 2022- Celebrating the Women of Tact.ai

Dr. Deepika Salwankar

At Tact.ai we recognize Women History Month and International Women's Day (IWD) as a time of celebration, awareness and gratitude for the struggles and triumphs of women throughout history.

We appreciate that IWD brings everyone together to honor those who’ve paved the path toward creating a more balanced, gender-equal world with the goal of achieving equality for all.

To continue adding to the conversation, we reached out to some of our inspiring colleagues across the world to discuss what drives them towards balancing success.

Jennell Dill, Chief Revenue Officer

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is focused on 'breaking the bias', and as so eloquently written on their website.

“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.”

As I take pause to reflect on how far we’ve come and celebrate our wins, I feel it’s only appropriate to recognize and pay tribute to all the women fleeing Ukraine with their children and families, and to all those on the front lines managing the crisis. There are many brave women playing pivotal roles in this crisis, and today is about recognizing and celebrating them.

It is moments like these I am reminded of what accomplishment and admiration are truly about. Women in Ukraine are literally making history today and we owe them our gratitude this International Women’s Day, and every day.

Kristin Fix, Head of Sales, US, Enterprise Accounts

I have had the great fortune of being inspired, encouraged, and supported by extraordinary mentors (both male and female), who have had an incredible impact on the woman I am today.

Being a woman in leadership is a huge responsibility, yet the rules I follow are simple: be transparent, lead by example, treat others the way you want to be treated, fight for what you believe in, and understand that standing up for yourself may be the hardest thing you will ever have to do but you do it because it matters.

Sangeetha Ravikumar, Senior HR Manager

Being an inquisitive learner & doer of things drives me and I thrive on giving my best every day!

I believe in building a great culture here at Tact with compassion, respect, work-life balance & kindness, where employees cherish coming to work. My motto is to break the barriers of the HR-phobic employees and be an employee-friendly HR.

My advice to young women can be summed up by this quote from Rosa Parks “You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.”

You are brave, so build that confidence, play on your strength & grace.Help will always be around, so just ask, speak up and grab what you deserve!
Celebrate every day, Happy Women’s Day!

Aparna Karra, VP Quality & Technical Program Management

I know today is about International Women’s Day and amazing women at Tact and honestly, I think everyone at Tact is just amazing. Makes work so much more enjoyable and easygoing.

I’ve been with Tact for almost 8 years and a lot has changed from the time I joined. I was the only woman in Engineering for the first couple of years and the one that played ping pong! I remember telling an ex-colleague of mine that one day, I’d like to see 4 women playing this game as opposed to just me, and I was really happy when that actually happened.

The first few years were hard. I was new to the startup world, had little kids at home, didn’t know what to expect. My coworkers always helped and supported me. There were folks that encouraged me, folks that stayed back afterwork to help me out. I remember the first time I missed something and released a build, I walked into Chuck’s office and apologized. And he said, 'Don’t worry, we’re all in this together!’ I knew I was at the right place then.

What excites me is challenging projects where I’ll get to learn something new and also help our customers. I enjoy working with people, handling different aspects of the program, and getting a quality product out. Credit goes to my super awesome teammates. What motivates me would be work, as long as it's fun! There’s no partying without me.

Shailaja Nair, Software Engineer

I am always interested in exploring new things and acquiring new skills.  At times if I get stuck while coding, instead of giving up I try to remember why I chose this career path and push myself towards a solution. As a career-driven woman, Never Give Up attitude is what drives me be better every day!

It's been a wonderful experience working here at Tact. Everyone is very welcoming and even though I’m the only woman in my team I feel comfortable opening up to my colleagues. Outside of work, I’m a full-time biryani and anime enthusiast and I love trying various varieties of it.

Uma Sharma, Senior Technical Program Manager

I like working in a fast paced and challenging environment.Tact has the best culture, my team is so supportive and understanding. Specially during the pandemic there were a lot of times when it was the support of my manager and co-workers which got me through. One thing that I always believe in is hard work and consistency is the key to success. Also as a woman I think we specially need to be confident and own our decisions and celebrate our achievements.

Sebrena Dsilva, HR Executive

I am in love with this quote which says, “Behind every successful woman there is a tribe of other successful women who have her back”. This philosophy has led me to be a successful career woman in HR.I am married with 2 kids(13-year-old & 5-year-old), and they motivate me to be better every day. My work at Tact is something I cherish, and it drives me towards success.

I still can’t believe it’s been 2.5 years since I joined Tact.ai & it feels like yesterday. The culture at Tact.ai is an important aspect of what I love about the company, which strives me to work every day. One could say Tact is another family.

Anagha Menon, Software associate QA

Some of us are motivated by self-mastery. This desire is so powerful that it can drive you towards your self-wholeness. But to do it, you should take risks and go out of your comfort zone. I get the courage to take that risk with the support from the team I work with here at Tact.

What I find most exciting is learning new technologies to upskill myself and implementing them at work. Tact has given me that opportunity to advance those skills and continue building my career and challenging myself.

If you would ask me how it feels to work with Tact- I would say energizing, passionate, and most importantly flexible. This is what makes me fall in love with the work I do every day.

Yazhini TK, Data Analyst

International Women's day is a great way to celebrate all the milestones and to look back at where we started and where we have arrived! As Tact is my first company after graduation, it has been my series of firsts. My first manager to my first friend at work, the first work mistake, and my very first recognition at work - all of it has shaped the woman I am today. I would say that my experience at Tact is going to be the most memorable one.

What I find most exciting is the support from my team, work-life balance & flexibility, and most importantly the work culture. Tact has always given me the time to learn things when needed and most importantly the freedom to execute what I learned.

Dr. Deepika Salwankar, Content & Community Manager

International Women's Day is a great way of reminding ourselves the importance of kindness and empathy! Speaking with all the amazing women at Tact and understanding their drive, point of views and stories has been a great experience during this Women History Month!

Especially in a post-pandemic-hybrid world, listening to each other, valuing our diversity, and appreciating our differences to build a better and inclusive workplace looks like the starting point for success. At Tact, what drives me towards excellence is creative freedom and unconditional support from my team and amazing women at Tact who support each other at every turn. The focus on building better work culture and work-life balance fuels creativity both at work and outside of it.
